Every year on January 1st we make New Year's resolutions because we want a better year if not a great year, and it's a long-standing tradition of the holiday. Resolutions usually revolve around a long-standing want, need, or problem we have that we would like resolved. Something for example losing weight to look better, or increasing your health and life expectancy.
Whenever a new year comes, it comes with lots of new opportunities. It is very critical for those people who couldn't achieve something for themselves this year. Therefore, some things are left for the new year. But to transform something outside, one has to start changing from the inside first. There are a few habits one can adopt to make their life greater. "This year will be different", you might say, well, here is something to do to make it that way.
Speak With Yourself
It is said that everyone has one mouth and two ears so that they can listen twice as much as they speak. Although, you can only wonder how much a person follows this. Just consider yourself. How much do you listen before speaking about anything random?
The thing is, it's hard to control one's mouth and brain when one doesn't have control over themselves. Therefore, it is very important to first start understanding yourself. For that, one has to do a simple thing, that is speak with themselves. It may sound funny, or sometimes people may think you are mentally ill, but speaking with yourself doesn't mean blabbering actual words, it simply means talking with yourself internally, like a thought. BUT WHAT WILL IT DO?
According to some experts, talking with yourself is a sign of intelligence. It sounds bizarre but, the reason is the more you speak with yourself, the more you listen to yourself, and in return, you memorize more things, and your understanding of that things sharpens. Also, you get a wonderful companion who listens to you more than anyone that are YOU.
Habit To Write
Just like speaking with yourself helps you to comprehend your ideas, the habit of writing supplements this with many other benefits. Think of it like this, whenever you read something that has an electrifying effect on your body, you sometimes think, ........if only I can write this!
Here, not many people understand that writing is a skill that can be honed with time. Writing is a form of art, just like painting, which means that the more you do it, the more it gets better and better. But, what if you don't want to be a writer? Does writing have any benefits? Sure it has.
For a student, it helps in their study as, after writing, their brain memorizes more. The science behind is simple. Due to writing, the eyes, and the hands are together working on a particular thing which creates long-term benefits.
For an adult, it helps them organize better for their work and their shopping.
Moreover, seeing adults, the children start doing the same which helps them understand it at an earlier age to adopt the habit of writing.
And if all these are not convincing factors for you, then psychologically, writing induces happiness.
Habit To Spend
What, a habit to spend! Weird, because most of the time you have seen or read that you should save money. Then, why you should spend it now? It is a very good thing if you save money. saving money has lots of advantages, particularly for some emergencies. I have previously written an article on my Medium blog about money management and saving habits. However, only saving money is not enough. Sometimes, people should spend money on activities that make them happy.
For Example:
Going on a trip.even if it's just a simple walk in the city or town. Because many people don't even know about their city or town, that's how many unexplored places there can be which attract them.
Buying something for a stranger. You can buy the smallest thing for someone like a cup of coffee because it's not the money that speaks but the feelings it holds.
Build A New Skill
Being skillful in anything is an accomplishment, whether it is reading, painting, or knowing multiple languages. Every skill has its plus points without a doubt. However, if developing such a skill would have been that easy, everyone would be doing it. Don't they? Therefore, even though skill is good for individuals, it doesn't provide enough motivation. So, one needs motivation first. The most common motivating factor for almost anything is money. Now here, if you are skillful at one thing, you can use it to earn money. For instance,
People who multiple languages can work as a translator,
Or if you are good at art you can make some beautiful pieces during your free time and then sell them online.
And for all that, what's better than a new year to start creating a new thing?
Finale
A new year brings new opportunities and moments of happiness in a person's life. To make it a success, one can follow some habits on this occasion. For starters, you can know yourself better by talking with yourself, about your bad memories of the past year, your life lessons, and your cheerful experiences. You can write them and make a wonderful book, teach others about life, or how it's a good idea to spend the littlest for the unknown to make their life momentarily happy. Or simply, just work on yourself skillfully in a particular thing that can help you psychologically and financially.
